MELLOTT, Ind. — Mrs. Lena Lorine Bishop, 86, of Mellott died at 9 a.m. yesterday (Oct. 12, 1969) at the Turtle Creek Convalescent Center in Indianapolis. Mrs. Bishop was born Sept. 1, 1883 at Belmont, Ind., in Brown County, the daughter of James T. and Lida Vandiman Smith. She was married Dec. 22, 1907 at Trenton, N.J., to George L. Bishop who preceded her in death in August 1947. Mrs. Bishop had lived in the Mellott vicinity 55 years where she and her husband operated a general store from 1914 to 1946. She was a member of the Mellott United Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Amos (Mildred) Mahan of near Mellott; a son, Don, of Seymour, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Crumley and Williams Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Austin officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, northwest of Mellott.

MELLOTT—Mrs. Lena Lorine Bishop, 86, a former Mellott resident, died at 9 a.m. Sunday in the Turtle Creek Convalescent Center at Indianapolis. She was born Sept. 1, 1883 at Belmont, a daughter of James T. and Lida Vandiman Smith. On Dec. 22, 1907, she married George L. Bishop at Trenton, N.J. He preceded her in death in August, 1947. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro, with Rev. Richard Austin officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Mellott. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Bishop, operated a general store here from 1914 to 1946.  Mr. Bishop died in 1947. They were married in 1907 in Trenton, NJ. A resident of the Mellott community 55 years, Mrs. Bishop was born in Belmont in Brown County.
